Privacy Policy

    Last updated May 29, 2026

This site is a personal blog and portfolio. It collects as little personal data as possible. This page explains what is collected, why, how long it is kept, and how to access or delete it.

    Data collected

    • Newsletter email address. If you subscribe to the newsletter, the email address you submit is stored along with the date you subscribed and a randomly generated token used to process unsubscribe requests. No name, IP address, or other profile data is collected with it.
    • Anonymized analytics. The site uses Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to measure traffic and page performance. These collect aggregated, anonymized metrics (such as page views, referrers, and load timings). They do not use cross-site tracking cookies and are not used to build a profile of you as an individual.

    How the data is used

    • Your newsletter email is used only to send the newsletter you subscribed to. It is never sold or shared with third parties.
    • Analytics metrics are used in aggregate to understand which content is read and to keep the site fast. They are not tied to your identity.

    Retention

Your newsletter email is kept until you unsubscribe. There is no time-based expiry — unsubscribing permanently deletes your record. Analytics data is retained in aggregate by Vercel according to their data-retention policies and is not personally identifiable.

    Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Regardless of where you live, you can exercise the following rights over the personal data this site holds about you:

    • Access / portability (GDPR Art. 15, CCPA). Request a copy of the personal data held about you — for the newsletter, this is your email address, subscription date, and unsubscribe token.
    • Erasure / deletion (GDPR Art. 17, CCPA). Request deletion of your personal data.

    How to exercise your rights

    • Delete your data (self-service). Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link containing your unique token. Following it deletes your subscriber record immediately and permanently — the unsubscribe flow removes the email, date, and token from storage. You can also visit the unsubscribe page with your token.
    • Request an export. Because only minimal data is stored, the simplest export route is to email hello@jayminwest.com from the address you subscribed with, and a copy of your stored record will be sent back to you.
    • Any other request. For any other access or deletion request, contact hello@jayminwest.com.

    Analytics & consent

The analytics used here (Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights) are privacy-friendly and anonymized: they do not set advertising cookies and do not track you across other websites. No personally identifiable analytics data is collected, so the site does not show a cookie-consent banner. If you prefer to opt out entirely, you can block analytics requests with your browser's privacy settings or an ad/tracker blocker, and the site will continue to work normally.
